Research and book accommodation

There is nothing worse than arriving after a long flight or road journey and not having any accommodations for the night ahead. Make sure that before you leave home your destination is well researched and affordable accommodation is pre-booked. This is especially true if you are taking your vacation during the peak season. Always book in advance so it is one less thing you need to worry about when you arrive.

Check for travel warnings

Before leaving for a foreign country always check for travel warnings. Travel advisories are accessible online and include up to date information on any warnings or alerts for your specific destination. Alerts may range from ongoing crime or violence and political unrest, to an outbreak of disease that may affect your stay. There are many risks when traveling to any country and it is always better to be safe than sorry. Whether the region is known for pickpocketing foreigners or haggling gypsies it is good to be aware of these things so you don’t fall victim to them. Also, to ensure safety, choose the best travel insurance agency that will have you covered if any unexpected emergency were to occur.

Packing basics

Depending on where and when you take your vacation, the climate in Europe can be very unpredictable. It is a good idea to check the weather a week or two before your trip so you have a good idea exactly what it will be like when you arrive. Also, pack smart and pack light. Remember, never over pack for a trip to Europe, because no matter where you go, you will want to buy souvenirs, clothes or other memorabilia to remind you of your wonderful stay. As for clothing, no matter what the weather forecast always pack layers rather than a heavy jacket. Even if you are planning a hot beach getaway, the nighttime temperatures may drop immensely requiring just a little something to cover your bare shoulders. Pack colors that will coordinate throughout various outfits, as well as shirts, skirts and pants that can intermix into enough outfits to last you your entire holiday. Depending on what events you have planned, bring clothing suitable for a night out in the biggest hotspots. Oh, and don’t forget about those cheap lingerie babydolls you bought to use for the perfect occasion. What better opportunity will you have to expose your wild side than on a European getaway?

Preparing for your holiday getaway may seem a little stressful, but the smart packing and planning will ensure a luxurious, worry-free vacation.
