The beautiful city of Perth is vibrant and exciting city on Australia’s West Coast. Although it doesn’t get the attention that it’s eastern cousin cities Sydney and Melbourne get it’s a contender for the best city in Australia. If you find yourself in this booming city for a short stay here are some things you will want to check out.
If you arrive at the Perth International airport the city is only 15km away. There are plenty of options to get into the city center such as black lane cars. To get the full city experience you will want to stay in the CBD. There are so many restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and clubs and accessible public transport all around.
To start your day in Perth make sure to grab a flat white along with a delicious breakfast from one of the trendy cafes. A cozy little place that we like is the Tuck Shop. They serve an amazing cup of Joe. Next be sure to visit Elizabeth Quay. There are great photo opportunities here of the inner harbour and the old bell tower. From here you can take a small ferry across the harbour to the Perth Zoo. This has been touted as one of the best Zoos in the country and is not to be missed.
After interacting with the wildlife have a bite to eat in Sir James Mitchell Park. Get takeaway and sit on the shores and watch the city bustle. There is always lots of activity going on in this area. Continue your walk along the shores of Sir James Mitchell Park and in McCallum Park. From here you can take the bridge to Heirisson Island. Plenty of foul to spot on this island and more great views to catch of the city.
On your way back to the CBD take a look at the Queens Gardens. It’s an astonishingly beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Keep heading into the city and visit St. Mary’s Cathedral. One of the oldest Cathedrals in the city. It looks especially great lit up at night. If you still have energy, make sure to check out St. Georges Cathedral as well.
Head back to your hotel and relax before heading out for a dinner and a cocktail or two. You may want to check out the local favourite Durty Nelly’s.
